Les tours du silence (Dakhmeh-yé Zartoshtiyun) proviennent de la religion zoroastrienne. Ils croyaient en la pureté de la terre et ne pouvaient pas enterrer leurs morts. On plaçait alors les défunts sur les tours du silence (en position assise) et un prêtre s'installait avec eux pour voir les vautours s'en occuper.

Towers of silence (Dakhmeh-yé Zartoshtiyun) are from zoroastrian religion. They believed in the earth purity. Therefore, they could not bury the dead. They were installing the corpse on the towers in a sitting position and a priest was staying close to see the vultures taking of the deceased.
